Notes from the shop
Factory floors are hard on clothing. Orders from the industrial units here are rarely about looking smart and mostly about shirts that survive heat, oil and repeated washing, printed with a unit name and sometimes a department or a shift. Wazirpur orders also tend to repeat, because staff numbers change and replacements are needed through the year.
Fabric weight matters more than fabric feel in this kind of work. A heavier cotton blend holds its shape through hard washing, and a print placed on the chest rather than across the whole front is less likely to be scuffed by equipment. Darker colours hide the marks that a working day leaves behind.
Where shirts are colour coded by department or by shift, keeping one design and changing only the garment colour is simpler to reorder and simpler for a supervisor to read across a floor. The artwork stays on file, so a top-up batch months later matches what is already in use.
